1. Condominiums in various price ranges will keep you convenient to shopping and Franklin Street in Downtown Chapel Hill. Many communities will be accessible from the Chapel Hill bus line, which eliminates the need to spend money on a campus-parking permit.
   
2. Townhomes, which generally share one or more walls with a neighbor, but no unit is above or below you, are also popular in Chapel Hill. Prices begin in a higher range than for condominiums, but vary depending on age, size and location. Garages are also found on some of the newer units priced around $200,000.00 and above.
   
3. Houses are common in Chapel Hill. Small, older cottages, newer homes on small lots and executive homes with half to one acre of land are all available in Chapel Hill and nearby Carrboro. Prices can vary from the low $100,000.00’s to over $1,000,000.00. Most of the newer homes in Chapel Hill are priced over $250,000.00.
   
4. Rural property is available near Chapel Hill. Most lots with more than one acre will be outside the city limits. Pittsboro in Chatham County and Hillsborough in Orange County are areas where larger lots are available within a thirty-minute drive to Chapel Hill and the University of North Carolina.
